Throughout the urban environment we need to create a sense of place – as a visual identity – recognizable at highway speeds and becoming richer as scale decreases to the pedestrian macro-scale. It is essential to create places where people want to be.

This identity is developed by combining local plants, rocks, textures and colors. By creating large scale earth graphics representing Native American designs along highways. By planting sweeps of native plants or aligning succulents in geometric patterns. By planting miles of Palo Verde trees along the street so the glowing yellow blossoms seem to go on forever and fallen flowers drift across the pavement.
